KOS Group Case Study

The Challenge

KOS Group is one of the leading Italian healthcare providers and was searching for a way to consolidate fragmented data from various business units into a single location to support strategic decision making.

With a turnover in excess of €595M, KOS employs over 13,700 people in Italy, Germany, the UK, and India. They operate from a wide geographic area and data was splintered across numerous production sites. They had brought nearly 200 individual facilities under their umbrella, and this meant a huge spread of information across platforms that refused to interact or communicate.

The disparate data meant that their employees, in order to make strategic decisions, were forced to expend time collecting and verifying fragmented data from different sources.

The Solution

KOS’s management team understood that they needed greater awareness and speed of access to their data in order to make more effective decisions for the growth of the group. It was also important to set themselves up to be able to access continuous benchmarking that could steer the group’s decision-making processes towards growth and efficiency.

KOS chose Board as the platform to support their data management and they started by evaluating the state of existing reporting activities primarily in the IT department. However, the scalability of Board has enabled the solution to be extended easily over time, increasing the number of users from the initial 10, to over 130.

The Benefits

Before implementing Board, KOS users worked inside of multiple operating systems and aligned that information using Access and Excel. It was becoming increasingly difficult to integrate newly acquired facilities and manage resources. With Board, they have a system that can be easily applied to new acquisitions.

They are able to better access certified information that is structured and presented consistently. They are able to share information assets with the relevant individuals and leverage a better, and more thorough knowledge of the market and sectors that they operate inside.

“Being a group with a workforce in excess of 5,000 employees, it is vital for us to make decisions based on human resource KPIs. “Thanks to Board, we are equipped with a screen that includes various dashboards displaying around a dozen indicators which are designed to monitor and guide the objectives of the individual directors.”
